How is it already September? Fall tends to be everyone's favorite season. The stream of everyone's favorite holidays are here. Football is back. Festive activities are beginning and so should your consideration of lifestyle changes.
What? How dare you tempt me with that when all of the sweets and amazing comfort foods in the near future.
Well, many have filled out the comment form at the bottom of my page, (which thank you so much for doing), and wanted to know how to improve your physical health.
After some yearly doctors appointments and being forced to step on the scale, I was not happy. I came home and looked at myself in the mirror and realized I wanted to feel confident in my own skin.
I am a huge advocate that the number on the scale does not define a person, but for me, in that moment it did and I wanted to make a change.
What is my weakness? Nutrition.
I have always ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted and been able to manage. My justification was that I workout at least three times a week, that should make up for it.
Wrong.
Looking back, my biggest weakness was carbs. Shells & Cheese, my jam. Eating Ice Cream every single night, let's go. Drinking pop and why not add a pump of vanilla, that was me. Portion control, why? This whole box of shells & cheese is calling my name.
Anyone else relate? That was me.
When realizing this and seeing what I was doing, my workouts weren't working out anymore.
Three Monday's ago, I decided that it was time, I was ready.
So here I am, three weeks into my lifestyle change and I have never felt so good!
I actually cared about the nutrition labels on the things that I was eating.
At first, I was exhausted because my body was trying to adjust, but now I have energy to get me through the entire day without feeling like I was going to crash every afternoon at 2pm.
I have energy that makes me push through my workouts.
I am finally noticing a difference in my body and my self-confidence is back.
When focusing on your diet, it forces you to meal prep so you don't just say, I can just go get McDonalds today for lunch.
I journal everyday what I eat and how many times per week I workout.
When telling people what I have been doing, I have caught a bunch of opinions.
Why are you doing that? You can't do it forever. Of all people, do you really need to be doing that?
Yes, yes I do.
Why?
Because I want to do it for myself. Plain and simple. That's all that matters. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience. I'm hesitant to step back on the scale because I do not want to be discouraged, but I am waiting until the 1 month mark.
No matter what the scale says, I see the difference. I feel the difference and that's all that matters!
Many people that know me, know I look up to and admire Rachel Hollis. She is an inspiring author and an inspiring motivational speaker. Her company started the #Last90DaysChallenge . They designed this challenge to motivate people to make the last 90 days of the year the best 90 days, instead of waiting until the new year to make a change.
That's my motivation for you on this Monday is to make the last 90 days of 2019 your best days for your physical and mental health.
